The Accucell-1 (387 replacement, 343 replacement) is a replacement for the once popular Mercuric Oxide 387 and 343 button type 'Power Cell' cell that was commonly used in tuning fork watches and is now banned because of toxicity and environmental fears.
The Accucell-1 (387 replacement, 343 replacement) has a distinctive appearance appearance with its plastic collar and brass voltage reducing circuit board.
The Accucell-1 (387 replacement, 343 replacement) is for calibre 214, 218, 219, 224, 230, 2210 & 2310 Bulova Accutron watch. For Accutron watches that have a battery strap (the 218, 219 & 2310 for example) you'll need to check the battery strap contact points and adjust if needed.
The Accucell-1 (387 replacement, 343 replacement) is for Geneva Universal Unisonic tuning fork watches.
The movements of tuning fork watches run well on 1.32 to 1.41 volts. The Accucell-1 battery was developed to output the proper voltage to run these movements exactly as would the original 387 and 343 mercury cell. The Accucell-1 will power your Bulova Accutron watch for about 9-10 months (as compared to the original mercury cell that might last between12 and 15 months.
Simply install the Accucell-1 with the silver positive side of the battery facing down into the battery compartment. (If your watch requires the negative contact to be face down into the battery compartment, such as in the ESA 9164 movement, then let us know as we have a solution for you).
An alternative mercury free replacement for the 387 / PX400 is the silver oxide 387S / S400PX. These 387S cells produce 1.55V which is higher than the 1.35V produced by the original mercury cell. This replacement can only be used in those Accutron 214 watches that are have been modified or that are perfectly tuned and with no wear to the movement and will keep accurate time with a 1.55V cell.
An alternative mercury free replacement for the 343 is the silver oxide 344. These 344 cells produce 1.55V which is higher than the 1.35V produced by the original mercury cell. This replacement can only be used in those watches that are have been modified or that are perfectly tuned and with no wear to the movement and will keep accurate time with a 1.55V cell.
Owners of Omega F300 watches, and others based on the same movement (ESA 9162, ESA 9164, ESA 9210), and the micro-motor tuning fork watches (Omega calibre 1220, calibre 1230, Megasonic f720hz), CAN NOT USE THIS BATTERY, but you can safely use the silver oxide 344. These watches should function perfectly with the 344 as these movements were designed to run satisfactorily on both the higher voltage Silver Oxide batteries and Mercury batteries
Another 387/PX400 replacement is a zinc air battery. The WeinCELL MRB400 is a custom zinc/air battery designed to replace banned mercury batteries. WeinCELLs are only suitable for cameras and light meters. They are not suitable for watches.
