The ZA675P cochlear implant battery is a hard-to-find battery specially designed for the high power requirements of cochlear implant devices. All manufacturers colour code cochlear implant battery blue, but do not confuse cochlear implant batteries with the normal ZA675 batteries of the same size.

Cochlear speech processors have higher power requirements than a conventional hearing aid. Patients have utilized regular ZA675 batteries with their processors in the past with some success, but often experience performance and sound quality issues and very short battery life. We strongly recommend using the correct high power batteries for your cochlear implant processor.

Cochlear Implant batteries use zinc-air technology. What makes the Zinc Air battery unique is that it uses oxygen from the atmosphere. It has small holes in the case that allows air into the battery, which is used as part of the chemical reaction. The battery is not activated until the plastic seal is removed.

These batteries effectively have a non-ending shelf life. They can be stored indefinitely until the plastic seal is removed.
